How often have you suggested, “Oh, let’s try something new; let’s do some fancy thing!”? Did you know that this could potentially contradict Jakob's Law?

People are not going to know how to use your website; yes, it will be totally hard for them to understand the new fancy experience you’re suggesting, and they’re going to be confused. and if they are confused, most likely they will leave!

Instead, please follow Jakob’s Law “Users spend most of their time on other sites. This means that users prefer your site to work the same way as all the other sites they already know.”

The user Mental Model works based on beliefs, not facts. Mental Model is what the user believes about the system, and it helps the user predict how the system will work.

Users often create mental models by using the knowledge they have about the world to create them.

It's worth noting that Mental models can change over time — due to additional experience with your system or with other systems.
