Which is more effective, wishful thinking or scientific thinking?

Wishful thinking is the simplest aspect of product design. at this stage, you believe your product concept is fantastic and begin seeking any supporting data.

At that point, you lose reality. You begin to ignore all criticism that contradicts your concept! You seek evidence to support your theory. Instead of thinking of why users might not be interested in your product.

Here is when scientific thinking comes into play. It teaches you how to distinguish between reality from fantasy. It makes you more grounded. You start hunting for evidence to disprove your theory rather than supporting it. Scientific thinking is a type of knowledge seeking involving intentional information, asking questions, testing hypotheses, making observations, recognizing patterns, and making inferences.

Wishful thinking leads to bad design! Instead, use scientific thinking.
